Our commitment to society goes right back to our founding in 2012 and our drive to succeed in our divestment mission. Our goal is to help clean up the Spanish financial system and reactivate the real estate sector both efficiently and sustainably, without causing any extra cost to the taxpayer. We are therefore committed to selling all our assets within the established timeframe and repaying our debt underwritten by the Spanish State.

Our business is founded on integrity, transparency and commitment to society, values that were chosen by our very own employees and that lie at the heart of everything we do.

Right since the very outset, we decided to launch various housing programmes designed to make it easier for the most disadvantaged groups to gain access to housing. We set up programmes to work with autonomous and local governments via which, to date, over 2,765 to be financially vulnerable.
Our participation in the United National Global Compact, demonstrates how deeply committed we are to implementing its fundamental Ten Principles and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). We strive to achieve SDG No.8 in everything we do: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

Our CSR initiatives are in line with what is set out in our Corporate Social Responsibility Master Plan 2017-2019, which is currently pending approval.

Sareb and Fundación Integra join forces to help vulnerable people find work

Sareb and Fundación Integra join forces to help vulnerable people find work

Sareb and Fundación Integra will work together on a project entitled “Building the future: Jobs with social value”, aimed at improving the employability of 30 people who are socially marginalised or financially vulnerable. The project will offer them the tools needed to find a job, via workshops in Madrid given by Sareb volunteers.

The initiative is designed to help socially marginalised people living in homes that Sareb offered as social housing, so that they can improve their chances of finding work.

The collaboration agreement between both institutions was signed in Madrid by Gaspar Gónzalez Palenzuela, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Sareb, and Ana Muñoz de Dios, Managing Director of Fundación Integra.

Those who benefit from this project will receive training at the Fundación Integra School of Empowerment, where they will be given the necessary social and work-related tools to help them break into the jobs market. The training workshops will be given by Sareb volunteers.

By signing this agreement and undertaking this project, Sareb joins the Integra Commitment, a network of companies and institutions that was set up by Fundación Integra in 2015, with the goal of creating social value by supporting socially responsible employment.

“Sareb Ambassadors” make their university debut

The “Sareb Ambassadors” initiative has now reached universities. Since the programme was first launched in 2016, employees have given talks to explain the company’s goals to A-level and higher education vocational students at schools and colleges in nine provinces across Spain.

Two years on, the initiative has now gone one step further, with talks being given to university students at the Retail and Tourism Faculty of Madrid’s Universidad Complutense (UCM).

During the last academic year, the Sareb Ambassadors programme reached out to more than 3,500 A-level and higher education students. One of the main priorities for 2017/2018 is to now explain to university students exactly what Sareb is, outlining its goals and its various CSR initiatives.

Sareb assigns 50 homes to L’Hospitalet de Llobregat Town Council to be let as social housing

Sareb today entered into an agreement with L’Hospitalet de Llobregat Town Council to temporarily assign them 50 homes, which will be used for social housing.

The agreement, signed by the Mayor of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Nuria Marín, and Sareb’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Gaspar González-Palenzuela, is valid for four years and will allow the council to manage the properties in order to meet the housing needs of people at risk of social exclusion.
Up to 50% of these homes may be occupied by families in default of payment or without a rented or purchased property, in which case L’Hospitalet de Llobregat Town Council will help to rectify the situation.

In exchange for the properties, Sareb will receive monthly compensation of €75 for occupied homes and €125 for vacant homes. This money will be used by Sareb to cover the insurance, community and extraordinary repair costs of the assigned properties. The council will pay all of the corresponding charges related to the management of the homes, as well as their day-to-day maintenance and Property Tax (IBI), among other costs.

“With this agreement, Sareb furthers its commitment and contribution to helping councils tackle the issue of social housing. These pledges of corporate social responsibility complement Sareb’s core mission to divest the real estate assets transferred to it from the banks that received state aid”, said Sareb’s Head of CSR, Gaspar González-Palenzuela.

Sareb launched its social housing programme in October 2013 with 2,000 units, which has since doubled to 4,000 units. Since this initiative began, Sareb has assigned 2,390 homes in agreements with 11 autonomous communities and 6 councils, including Madrid and Barcelona.

By entering into this agreement with the L’Hospitalet de Llobregat Town Council, close to 6,000 people will benefit from the affordable rental housing plans signed by Sareb.
